MD/MS Program in Epidemiology

Current medical students Georgetown University who are interested in research training may be eligible to apply for our MD/M.S. Program. The MD/M.S. Program allows medical students to double-count 11 academic credits towards both their medical’s and EPID degrees. Upon entering their third year, they need to apply to take a leave of absence for one year. During this time, they can earn their Master’s degree in just two graduate semesters, and both degrees after five years. Consequently, EPID/medical graduates can be more competitive in their residency and later fellowship programs.

Degree Requirements

Medical students must apply at the beginning of the 3rd year of medical school and request a leave of absence for one year from medical school. College of Medicine students in good academic standing can enter the program after the 3rd year of medical school and following completion of their USMLE Step I.
