Fall Admission Deadlines

Early Application
Apply early to waive the application fee. You must submit a fee waiver request form and wait for it to be processed before you submit your program application.

Priority Application
Recommended deadline for scholarship consideration and for international applicants who will need to apply for a U.S. visa.

Application Requirements

Applicants are to submit all required credentials and supporting documentation no later than the application deadline. Applications are reviewed on a rolling, space-available basis.

Apply Online

A 4-year bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a GPA of 3.0 or higher (across all undergraduate coursework and/or institutions attended).

List your postsecondary institutions in your application, and upload a transcript for each institution.

WES  or NACES  credential evaluation services are strongly encouraged for international transcripts.

Follow the transcript instructions in Admissions FAQ  to ensure you upload proper documentation.

You must upload a resume or curriculum vitae (CV) to your online application. Your resume should describe your work experience, extracurricular or volunteer activities, academic institutions attended, list of published work and any academic honors or awards. There is no page limit, though we recommend a one- to two-page resume.

Applicants are required to submit two recommendation letters. Ideally, applicants should include at least one academic reference and one professional reference. All recommendations will need to be submitted through the online application portal, which will automatically email your recommender with instructions for online submission of their letter, allow you to track recommendations received and follow up with recommenders who still need to submit their letter, and expedite the processing of the recommendations to automatically include them with the online application once submitted.

Your personal statement should discuss your interest in the field of public health and epidemiology as well as your interest in Georgetown University. Please address your career goals.

The application fee is nonrefundable, but application fee waivers may be available. View information about the application fee and fee waivers .

Applicants to any Georgetown program may choose to submit an Optional Statement that addresses diversity, personal background and contributions to community. A detailed prompt for the statement can be found in the application.

We encourage you to consider applying for the Hoyas for Science Scholarship , offered through Georgetown Biomedical Graduate Education. Please note that the scholarship has a similar prompt to the Optional Statement, and you can incorporate your Optional Statement text into your essay for this scholarship application.

GRE and MCAT scores are not required, but we encourage applicants to report these scores if they are available. For the MCAT, please email materials to BGEAdmissions@georgetown.edu. Reporting options for the MCAT include:

All applicants are required to demonstrate a level of proficiency in the English language sufficient to meet the Graduate Admissions requirement. Follow the TOEFL/IELTS instructions in Admissions FAQ  to determine whether you need to send us test scores to prove your English language proficiency.

International Applicants

Please note that the visa application process can take weeks or months and varies based on your country of origin. To help ensure that students receive their visas in time for registration, the program suggests that applications to the program should be completed by the May 15 priority deadline. In the event that visas are not received in time, admitted students may defer their admission one time to a future open term. There is no additional admissions application fee charge for the one-time deferral.

Tuition & Funding

Tuition: Visit the Georgetown University Biomedical Graduate Education Tuition & Fees page to find program costs.

FAFSA: To maximize your opportunity for funding, please complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) early. Funding for a graduate education is not like undergraduate funding; awards are not based upon parental income. Submitting your FAFSA early will ensure consideration for institutional grant opportunities. The FAFSA will be available starting in October for the following academic year. 

Loans: Visit the Private Loans for Graduate Students page for Georgetown University’s list of preferred lenders. BGE students may also be eligible for Federal Direct Unsubsidized Loans.

Scholarships: Biomedical Graduate Education (BGE) offers scholarships to incoming master’s students based on merit and service. Scholarship applications are reviewed on a rolling basis and awarded subject to funding availability, so we recommend that you apply as soon as possible after submitting your program application. BGE also offers merit-based scholarships to a limited number of master’s students based on programs’ recommendations.

M.D./M.S. Program (GUSOM Students)

Georgetown School of Medicine M.D. students may apply for an M.D./M.S. in Epidemiology dual degree.
