Master of Public Health in Epidemiology

Georgetown’s Master of Public Health in Epidemiology program emphasizes experiential learning in order to prepare students for professional success.

Through coursework, internships and the MPH practicum project, you’ll gain hands-on experience and practical skills that will serve you as a public health practitioner, epidemiologist, or data analyst in the public, private or nonprofit sector.

What You’ll Learn

The MPH in Epidemiology curriculum includes a breadth of topics that are critical to public health practice, including health systems and policy, health communications, environmental health, global health, and community engagement. While MPH and M.S. students share core coursework in epidemiology and biostatistics, the MPH curriculum focuses more on a practitioner approach, compared to the more research-focused M.S. program.

Core courses cover epidemiology, health disparities, and community engagement, while electives allow you to focus on areas of interest before choosing a capstone and practicum.

Public Health Practicum

The two-semester practicum will partner you with partnering organizations to work on a public health project in the Washington, D.C., area. You’ll prove your skills in program planning, assessment, and communication, while helping to make an impact in the community.
